20 March: Euranet Conference on the Crisis of European journalism

Submitted by on March 8, 2012 – 12:06No Comment

On 20 March: from 14:00 – 18:00 at the European Parliament in Brussels, Euranet will bring together young Europeans, EU senior representatives, think tanks and journalists, to discuss the issue is the “Crisis of European journalism” and how cross-border journalism could help to enhance quality and interest among the public.

How to facilitate “Cross-border journalism”, while nowadays, most of journalists are focused on purely national issues? National approaches and different media cultures are curbing the emergence of European journalism.

One additional issue will be about a “Better training for young journalists”. Brussels correspondents are younger and put under more pressure than in the past. As a result, the quality of journalism has suffered.

The principle of this debate is to give students and young Europeans the opportunity to debate directly with EU senior representatives on EU matters. In order to play its role between the institutions and the European citizens, Euranet brings young Europeans and young journalists in Brussels to quiz European politicians on how they plan to boost the trust between Brussels and EU citizens in these challenging times.

The conference will take place in the Room ASP5G3 of the European Parliament.
