Do digital media favor the creation of a European public sphere ?

Submitted by on June 20, 2011 – 15:40No Comment

Intranet, social networks, blogging and micro-blogging… The digital media distinguish themselves by the fast and transnational dissemination of information. European information struggles to carve out a place in traditional media. Web 2.0 provides it a new scope and European bloggers are more numerous

In a resolution of 7 September 2010, the European Parliament passed the MEPLokkegaard’s report on “journalism and new media – creating a public sphere in Europe”. MEPs stated the important place expected for web 2.0 in bridging the gap between the citizens and their European representatives.

But what is the real impact of new media on the European public sphere?

What do you think?
